You know I love writing about bank bonuses. And even though I frequently update my posts whenever a banking bonus offer changes, I wanted to write a comprehensive guide to put them all in one place.
What can I say, it helps keep me organized, and hopefully helps you too.
Plus, it’s great to have an overview of all the offers out there, since you can only claim one every 2 years per each category (checking account, savings account, business account, personal credit card, business credit card, etc).
The best thing to do is find the highest bonus offer you qualify for and apply for it, given the product fits you. These deals change all the time.
But sometimes you just want to get the quickest bonus and move on to the next one. Nothing wrong with that either.
After all, it’s already factored into Chase Bank’s bottom line. They simply don’t lose money.
They already know some people are there simply for the free money, while others will more than plenty make up for it by signing up for more products down the line.
But regardless of your initial intentions, you may end up using their products long-term anyways because they work as intended.
Well, let’s get on to this comprehensive guide. I’ll give you the basics. That is, the product itself, who qualifies for it, the bonus offer amount, and any other important stipulations you might need to know. If you want to read further into it to see if it’s a good fit for you, there’ll be a link you can follow.
(Part 1: All of the checking bonuses available currently)
1. Free $200 Chase Total Checking Account Bonus
What’s the offer?
This checking account can be opened by anyone who’s a new Chase checking account customer. The details are similar to every other Total Checking bonus offer by Chase.
Make sure you tick the boxes below:
- No current Chase checking account active
- Must not have closed a Chase checking account anytime within the last 6 months
You’ve got to deposit any amount via direct deposit within 90 days of opening the account.
You’ll then receive the $200 as promised into that account within 15 days of the deposit.
Simple as that. As far as I know, you can deposit $0.01 and still redeem the bonus!
There’s no limitation based on where you live.
There’s also no limitation on a per household basis. Everyone in your family can sign up for their own bonus. A family of four can easily rake in $800 doing this.
Who should sign up for this offer?
Anyone and everyone who does not have a current Chase checking account. It’s that good.
Fees associated with this account
$12 a month, but…
Read on.
How to waive those fees
There are 3 ways to waive the fees:
- Link a direct deposit totaling $500 or more per month
- Keep at least $1,500 in the account at all times (if it dips below $1,500 even for just one day, you’ll pay the fee)
- That is, unless you average at least a $5,000 balance in all your Chase accounts per day for the month
When does this offer expire?
Update: You now have a bit more time to take advantage of this offer.
This $200 bonus offer expires on October 18, 2023.
This $200 bonus offer expires on July 19, 2023.

2. Free $100 Chase College Checking Account Bonus
What’s the offer?
Anybody who is 17-24 years old and attends or will attend a college or university qualifies for the $100 College Checking account bonus. If you’re 17 years old, you’ll need to physically go to a Chase branch location to open an account. If you’re 18 years old and over, you can apply online or at a Chase branch location.
It doesn’t matter if you’re attending college or university for a bachelor’s degree, master’s, or even Ph.D. You can still qualify as long as you meet the above requirements.
If you’ve got more than one family member attending college simultaneously, you can all apply separately to bank multiple $100 bonuses for your family. There are no household limitations to this offer.
If you’ve got 10 college-goers, you can bank $1,000! Not sure how often that happens, but that would be exciting to hear about.
You’ll also need to be considered a new Chase checking account customer.
To be considered a new checking account customer, be sure you tick the boxes below:
- You have no active Chase checking account under your name
- You have not closed any Chase checking accounts within the last 6 months
Who should sign up for this offer?
This one’s an account I wouldn’t really recommend signing up for, even if you qualify for it. Get the Chase Total Checking bonus instead. And yes, I’m talking to all you college students too.
There’s really only one scenario where I would recommend the College Checking account over the Total Checking account, and that scenario is if you don’t believe you could waive the Total Checking account fee of $12 using any one of the following methods:
- Link a direct deposit totaling $500 or more per month
- Keep at least $1,500 in the account at all times (if it dips below $1,500 even for just one day, you’ll pay the fee)
- That is, unless you average at least a $5,000 balance in all your Chase accounts per day for the month
While you have your College Checking account, you will incur no fees. That is the main advantage you have over the Total Checking account, and it’s a great feature.
However, remember that your College Checking account will be good for 5 years, and then you’ll be converted to a regular checking account, which is the Chase Total Checking account.
Fees associated with this account
As mentioned above, none. But the maximum number of years you can have this account for is 5 years total before it gets converted into a regular account with fees.

3. Free $100 Chase Secure Banking Checking Account Bonus
What’s the offer?
This checking account can be opened by anyone who’s a new Chase checking account customer.
To recap, make sure you tick the boxes below to see if you’re considered a new customer:
- No current Chase checking account active
- Must not have closed a Chase checking account anytime within the last 6 months
Once you open this account, you’ll need to make at least 10 transactions within 60 days of opening the account. If you do that successfully, Chase will deposit the $100 bonus directly into your account within 15 days.
There are no direct deposits required.
Who should sign up for this offer?
Anyone can qualify for this bonus, technically speaking.
But who should apply for this account? Now that’s another story. Generally, it’s aimed at customers who don’t qualify for certain other traditional checking accounts. So if you’ve ever been declined for a checking account, you’ll probably still qualify for this account along with the $100 account bonus.
Basically, it’s an account that can help a lot of people who are not in necessarily the best financial position, historically speaking.
Why? Because it has some limitations in the account that are intentionally placed to protect you as an account user. I’ve outlined it in detail in my full review of the Secure Checking bonus post, but in short, it helps prevent you from making any bad decisions that’ll get you charged unintentionally, such as making a purchase when you don’t have sufficient funds in the account.
Fees associated with this account
So, the above protection doesn’t come free, unfortunately. In exchange for Chase watching over your back and preventing you from making bad financial decisions, they charge a monthly fee of $4.95.
However, that’s probably a lot less than any potential mistake you could make if you don’t have such a stellar financial history.
Plus, the account bonus covers around 20 months of fees, which is plenty of time to learn the ropes of managing a checking account without getting yourself penalized for any mistakes you might make.

4. Free $300 Chase Business Complete Checking Account Bonus
What’s the offer?
If you open up a Chase Business Complete checking account and do the following, you’ll receive a $300 bonus:
- You first have to deposit $2,000 within 1 month
- You then have to maintain that amount (at least $2,000) for at least 2 months
- Within 3 months, you’ll have to make at least 5 transactions in that account
- Once you make the 5th transaction, you’ll receive your $300 bonus in that account within 15 days
You also need to be a new customer by ticking the following criteria:
- You don’t currently have a Chase Business Checking account
- You haven’t closed any Chase Business Checking accounts in the last 3 months
- You haven’t claimed any bonuses related to a Chase Business Checking account within the last 2 years
Who should sign up for this offer?
Anyone who owns a business should get this account while the $300 offer stands.
There’s no reason not to have a separate account for all your business expenses. Besides the IRS strongly recommending it, it helps to keep business expenses organized apart from your personal life.
If you’ve been waiting on getting a business account, now is a good chance to capture the $300 bonus along with it.
Do I need an employer identification number (EIN)?
It’s helpful if you have a business EIN (employer identification number), meaning that you’ve incorporated your business under an LLC or something similar, but it’s not completely necessary.
You could also use your social security number which means that you’re probably doing business under your own name as a sole proprietor.
Fees associated with this account
Technically, there is a $15 charge every month to own this account.
However, there are ways to waive this fee completely, and you only have to do one of the following:
- Link a Chase Private Client Checking account
- Show valid military ID proving that you are currently serving or are a military veteran
- Maintain $2,000 each and every day of the month
- Spend at least $2,000 on a Chase Business Ink credit card opened under the same business name
Remember, just doing one of these will waive the $15 fee for the month.

My overall strategic recommendation for Chase Checking account bonus offers
Out of the above four, you can only claim one bonus offer for the next 2 years, that is, unless you’re a business owner, then you can take advantage of two total.
I strongly recommend everyone take advantage of the $200 Total Checking account bonus offer if possible, even if you’re a college student. There are two exceptions:
- You’re a college student and you’re not confident you can successfully waive the $12 monthly fee (over two years, that’ll potentially cost you $12 x 24 months = $288, which completely wipes out your bonus)
- You haven’t had the best financial track record or you’re completely new and just starting out in your financial journey that you might make some mistakes that could cost you
If you find yourself in the first group, go for the College Checking account. You won’t get charged any fees while you’re in that account (good for up to 5 years before you’ll have to switch to a regular Total Checking account.
If you find yourself in the second group, go for the Secure Checking account. You’ll get charged a $4.95 monthly fee but in exchange, Chase will make sure you don’t make any dumb mistakes that’ll get you penalized with a fee. You’re paying a fair rate for peace of mind, in my opinion.
And then, if you’re also a business owner, hands down go for the $300 Business Complete Checking account bonus offer on top of that for potentially a cool $500 all in.
Plus, if you’ve got family, sign each of them up to rack up the total. A family of four all signing up for the $200 Total Checking account bonus rakes in a cool $800 total.
